Light & Sugar is moving to other peoples’ faces!
I’ve decided that it’ll greatly improve the quality of my work if I branch out from doing self-portraits. My logic in using myself as a subject was simply that I’m the most readily available model I know. There are several problems with this…
1. photographing only myself every week can seem very narcissistic
2. it’s easy to flake out on developing an actual idea when the only person who will notice my slacking is myself
3. I’m not learning anything new by always working with the same face
4. It’s difficult for me to experiment with different lighting when I’m both in front of and behind the camera
I don’t know how many volunteers I’ll be able to round up, but the goal is to get enough people so that I will only need to use myself as a model every so often instead of every week.
I’m hoping that by asking my friends to be models I will be newly inspired to keep up with this project, and that I will learn a thing or two about makeup application along the way. If you’re in AZ and you would be interested in modeling, please contact me! (use the ask button on my page)
Today has been a difficult day, and I didn’t think I’d have the patience to do a post. My roommate suggested that I just smear rainbow colors on my face… and I took her advice :)
Yes, yes, I realize it’s extra dark and contrasty and that many people don’t like that aesthetic. Well, it suits me today.
